BUGABOO CELEBRATES CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH LAUNCH OF ATELIER COLLECTION
This September, Bugaboo’s in-house design team is to introduce the Atelier Collection, a limited-edition Bugaboo Cameleon3 and Bugaboo Buffalo crafted with precision for parents who seek a stroller that is the epitome of elegance.
Dutch design brand Bugaboo, best known for revolutionising the stroller market, has been creating fashion-forward strollers for over twenty years and has collaborated with designer brands including Diesel, Bas Kosters, Missoni and Marc Jacobs. This latest limited edition collection showcases Bugaboo’s own artistic talent and expertise.
Design is the driving force behind the team at Bugaboo who create game-changing products to help individuals move freely through the world. The Bugaboo design team select the highest quality materials and carry out exhaustive product testing to ensure that the products created can be used every day, yet last for generations. With an eye for detail, aesthetics and style the ninety-two in-house designers and engineers ensure that each product comes together seamlessly and with exceptional functionality.
Alongside creating new products, the design team at Bugaboo are constantly improving designs; in the past four years, they have introduced more than 1,500 product and process improvements and are constantly working at making the best even better. “As a designer, you should never be seduced by ‘the expected.’ You need to make mistakes and have the perseverance to keep going until it’s totally right. The process of pushing for perfection is sometimes painful – certainly it’s uncomfortable. But this part is essential if you want to truly innovate.” explains Co-Founder and Chief Design Officer Max Barenbrug.
According to Senior Product Designer Barber Ebbinge, the inspiration for the new Atelier Collection is French fashion – historically very elegant and chic, but at the same time modern and timeless.
Perhaps most impressive is the richness of the new mélange fabric, featured on the carry cot and sun canopy, which is not only unisex but suitable for all seasons. Together with the detailing of the leather-look trim, the strollers have a strikingly beautiful silhouette. As finishing touches the Atelier Collection strollers include an elegant, quilted black seat liner and a hand-stitched leather-look handlebar and carry handle. With the launch of the Atelier collection celebrated by a series of photographs shot in analog by Sanne Glasbergen, Bugaboo demonstrates the meticulous design process from conception to creation.
The Bugaboo Buffalo Atelier and the Bugaboo Cameleon3 Atelier are available as complete limited edition strollers as of September 2017 for a limited period. The Bugaboo Footmuff Atelier is sold as a separate accessory (€129.95) and is compatible with all Bugaboo strollers.

Trends and Insights
The Bugaboo design process begins with research and experimentation – looking at the impact of trends, trying new things, thinking differently and pushing the limits of their knowledge. They consider all possibilities, but eventually are very selective, finding the best combination of fabrics, hardware, patterns and sewing techniques.
Measure twice, cut once
The second step in the design process is working to transform a prototype into a sample – this is when ideas that started on paper really come to life. Every element means something. Quality is of the utmost importance, so there is painstaking attention to every detail. The Bugaboo designers uphold the highest standards to please the most critical eyes.
The finishing touches
The last step in the design process is assembling the sample. The team of designers critique their labour of love before it goes into production. It needs to look and perform perfectly. Technique, design, function and form must seamlessly come together –craftsmanship is what brings the product from concept to creation.
